A Story to Tell

Posted on November 29th, 2010 by TNichols

When you give, there is a story to tell and you inspire others by sharing your experience.

“What a great day!!! There was so much food and much needed… We had fun working together with other churches and volunteers. What a blessing to see so many people come together for a common cause. Thank you everyone who took part… Thank you JESUS !!!!”  – Jake

What story will you share when you are out serving those in need? The impact of your service goes beyond that can of donated food, those boxes that were packed, or meal that was served. These stories of giving represent lives that are changed. And there are thousands more lives that need changing today. Yours just might be one of them.

What Difference Does it Make?

I think a lot of us get frustrated in the belief that our actions have minimal impacts; “What difference can I make?”  Then I see something like my neighbor kids did:  Worked all day for several days baking: brownies, cookies, pumpkin bread. Had a nice neighborhood bake sale and made over $200. Money for video games, right? Nope; those kids donated every penny to a local ministry.
What difference did those kids make?  Yes, they made a significant financial contribution to a very worthy cause. But even more than that, they inspired an entire neighborhood to do “something.” A simple bake sale had a tenfold impact. What if we all did “something” for someone regularly? Imagine the ripple effect of tenfold impacts, and the smiles we will cause.  And imagine God’s smile when He sees His people serving.

“Extremely satisfying experience!!! Met wonderful people from several Brandon churches all working together for the same wonderful ministry–Feed the Bay! Further, we found it amazing how generous people are–many brought full cartloads of groceries to donate. However, whether it was one can or an entire cart, every donation was appreciated!! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to help.” –Robert

It is so encouraging to hear the testimony of the people who serve those in need because of God’s love working in them. Not only do we shine Light into the darkness but that Light is reflected back to us in a glorious way.

Giving Thanks!

At Thanksgiving, we take a few minutes to thank all of those involved in the enormous progress of this ministry in 2010:

  • Church leaders anxious to see their church have a greater impact in their communities for Christ
  • Church members eager to serve those in need using their God-given abilities and possessions
  • Ministries wanting to connect more closely with the Body of Christ in their local area
  • A Board of Directors that supports Meet The Need above and beyond the call of duty
  • Employees who work tirelessly (and often into the wee hours of the night) because they believe in the mission of this ministry
  • All of those praying for Meet The Need, and those who share our hope for a “Church” that is fully mobilized and united in service to others in the mighty name of Jesus Christ
